I am thinking about having a baby and I am african american and i want my baby to have an african-american name. the only reason i care what race my baby's name come from is because i have seen a lot of african americans with white names and they have been teased a lot about their name and i dont want my child to go through the same stuff. PLEASE LEAVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS.

I would suggest an ordinary nice name be it african american or anything in between . I only say this in all honesty because it seems we sometimes try a bit to hard in coming up with a unique baby name that the child winds up suffering later for it . It's not in the name but the foolish people whom would do the teasing but also trying to hard to come up with that unique name makes it more difficult also . There is still nothing wrong with the names Martin, George , Bill or any other you may like . Good luck and don't try to hard : )

Where I work, we have a very large African customer base, and you know what? Most of them are named what you would define as "white" names. eg, Lucy, Monica, Martin, etc.

A few of the more exotic names we have are Love, Comfort, Lucky, Prince.

Some of the "african" names we have are Kofi, Olawunde, Kwasi.

I know in some parts of Africa, a child is given their name by what day of the week they are born. I can't remember them all, but I do remember that "Kofi" is given to a boy born on Friday. I'm sure if you Google search it, you might be able to find it.

Good Luck, and I hope this helps.

My coworker is from African and his children have their first names American, and the middle names are the African name for the day of the week they were born on eg Kobe, Kofi not sure that I am spelling correct, but I know it depends on the day of the week they are born on and if they are male or female. That's how he and his wife solved the blended name issue

There is no such thing as an "African-American" name. And there is no such thing as a "white" name. A name is either American or it's not.
