My car has ABS and is a 99 monte carlo if that helps. I'd like to know the average cost of the wheel sensors and possible costs of labor if possible. Basically, I'd like to know what I'm looking at paying. Break the costs down for me if you can, please. Thanks!

If your ABS light is on, and you were told sensor needed replacing..on one of the wheels. First of all, hadn't seen too many of them fail...but if you have had any accidents, or just had your brakes pads replaced or wheels balanced, then possibility of the sensor could have been bumped and not making a good connection...or you could have damaged some wiring from the sensor to computer...then again..if none of this happened, first of all..have the ABS light turned off...and drive car and see if light comes back on..If it resets, then fine...cost of sensor is 65.00 and labor to install is 1 hour...plus tax...but still demand from tech..why part failed..and why...Good luck

I can't tell you exactly. I CAN tell you that the speed sensors are built into the wheel bearings on this car, so the whole bearing must be replaced. Not really a DIY job. Call 4 or 5 local shops to get a good average. Remember that the cheapest may very well not be the best way to go. Getting prices on this site isn't very accurate anyway because of differences in local economy. Doing a job in San Fransisco or New York city will cost more than in Kansas City.

I would say going from automatic to a manual you are looking at around a grand ( $1000 ) if not more. There are so many things to change and add that most garages probably would not touch it. They do not like getting into something like this because people don't understand where all the extra labor costs come from. This is all considering that you already have the manual transmission.
