It just seems very convenient to get the system at the dealership and not have to worry about it...

If you add the Scion security on at the time of purchase, your system is covered by the full 3yr/36,000 mile warranty. The system is nice also because it is designed to fit with the vehicles wiring harness without cutting/splicing any wires. You keep your same keyless entry fob to active the system(no additional remotes,yeah!) It is true that you can get an aftermarket alarm installed for less. If that's the path you choose, research the installer as much as the alarm you choose. I have seen some aftermarket alarms installed incorrectly and the damage voided the electrical warranty. No, with our XA they wanted $400 dollars to install one with two remotes.
We called a professional and got a two remote system for about $150-$200

Stay away from the dealership - big rip off. you can get an aftermarket one that is much nicer and wayyyy less money.

Don't know how much they charge at the stealership.

Call a professional install place and see what they charge, then compare prices and features.
