Bad Bad Bad, my reasons are simple. I believe that people need to take care of themselves. Some of the people this would help choose not to purchase health care of their own and instead spend it on vice like cigarettes, booze, and drugs. I don't want to pay for someone who uses those instead of buying their own insurance.

In the long run, Universal Health Care will save money for the American people. We currently rank number 1 in health care cost and number 14 in quality of care in the world. World Health Organization. The CEO of General Motors has said that $1500 of every new car goes to pay for heath care. I would assume this goes for many industry's. We already pay this without knowing it for the most part. Currently 45 million people are without access to affordable health care, this creates a burden as they do not practice preventive medicine and do not see the Dr. until an issue becomes much worse. They go to emergency rooms which is much costlier. We pay that in our own bills and insurance premiums. I think that if it was looked at that the government could run its own medical care and cover everybody much cheaper with better outcomes so I think a tax raise would be beneficial for this reason. It would just be a transfer of insurance cost to cover everyone. Like I said in the long run it would probably save money if done right.

I think it is a good idea and a bold announcement. No one really wants to pay more taxes, but our healthcare system is a total mess. It is going to take some tax increases to do the things that need to be done in this country.

Bad. Tax increase is bad. Universal healthcare is bad.

Raising taxes to drag down healthcare is a bad idea.

A typically liberal democrat idea.

He and his liberal democrat millionaire buddies should just pay the medical bills of the poor.

He wouldn't have to increase taxes to do that if he would stop providing for illegal aliens. At the very least I'd like to be able to get what they do, but I and many others don't think we should have to pay for them. We need to take care of our own citizens.

Good! The increase in taxes will be small to the individual in comparison to the cost for a health plan that they face today. We are living longer and stronger and to have everybody insured should reduce costs.
