a solution is available from trade motor factors which removes the oxidation them apply laquer alternatively get them sandblasted and laqured if you want them to look like new (dont touch the wheels with your hands after gritblasting unless you wish to see your finger prints imortalized under the laquer and they are invisible untill the laquer is applied)

I had a similar problem with some aloys ona car I was about to sell. A simple aluminium spray paint from Halfords does the job really well. a VERY light sand first, and if the tyres are still on the rims then maks well. Two or three light coats and then the same of some clear lacquer over the top.

"Oh and no i've got not got time to attempt the 'spray water onto the tyre or dip tyre into water and seem for bubbles'" nicely it extremely is precisely the thank you to do it. Why do not you have time? a while is loose while in comparison with the time of a tyre extra fit, all the strategies you opt for is a jack and wheelbrace to get the wheel off the vehicle and something that could carry a super form of water. a low-value kiddie's inflatable swimming pool is right. then you certainly'll understand the place the leaks are, won't you? Sounds to me such as you are attempting to do a rapid, a million/2-ar5ed job of it, so my advice is scrap the wheels in case you won't be able to be afflicted to speculate any time or money into fixing the challenge.

Cans of clear laquer are useless. I suggest that You spray them Yourself then take them(all taped up, ready to finish)to a car painter who will be able to give them a proper finish with industry standard laquer and you'll probably have them back in 24 hours looking brand new and all for about 50 quid, if that. Oh yeah, Halfords paint, lots of light layers, be patient.

we took a works car to the main dealer to have scratches on wheel done all they did was spray that part of wheel,
go to motor save or any car shop buy a few cans of silver spray,
give the wheels a good clean & rub down to remove as much crap as you can, get some under coat to put on first,
aloy is porous its the paint that seals it so it needs to key in take your time & do a proper job
