Last week on shift she slagged another colleague off to a high degree. I didn't want 2 tell my colleague but she asked me if this woman had said anything about her. I told her no, but she insisted something had been said. I told her I didnt want 2 tell her & that I was going 2 speak 2 management. She said she has a right 2 know wot had been said about her. In the end I told her and she was fuming. I told management in my supervision and now this colleague has brought 2 management that she knows that this woman had slagged her off. Management said I shouldnt have told her what had been said and that they want to find out of me why I told her. I don't think one of the managers likes me which worries me about consequences. I have only been in this job 5 months.
What will happen to me? Will I be disciplined? Sacked? Moved to another department? Or just a verbal warning? Any advice welcome as I'm worried about my job cos I really enjoy it. Thanks

No you sound very young and naive and I think they will "take this into account".

It sounds like you are in a workplace where bullying and harrassment are commonplace. It is the responsibility of management to prevent this from happening.

It sounds like this is a nest of vipers, with a lot of history and they have been bitching about each other for a long, long time. You have been used as a "pawn" in their game, nothing more.

Of course you shoud NEVER tell anyone what anyone else has said about them in the workplace- but you know that NOW!!

No they will take your innocence and lack of experience into account I am quite sure. You sound like a nice person.

It is a little difficult to know without more details - your description is a little sketchy and haphazard. But it seems to me that if management are complaining at you for passing on the fact that the person (we'll call them person B) then your manager possibly does not like you. Because pointless tittle tattle like that is not normally taken notice of by management, so it sounds like your manager is using it as an excuse you belittle you.
I would suggest you get another job over the next 6 months - you cannot win a fight against your manager unless you have the support of someone higher up. So don't even try.
Don't leave your current job until you have a new one.
Don't be persuaded to stay at your current job unless they make you an immediate higher pay offer to stay.

No I don't think you will be disciplined or sacked for passing on this information - after all it is not against your employment contract to pass on this type of information, so reject any type of formal warning verbal or written.

No disciplinary should come of this to you. You were pressured and that is not fair of her to do this. It is also the management job to stop this bitching and deal with the abuser without mentioning yours or anyone elses names. They sound like a bad management team to me.
Tell them you are not happy for this behaviour to c ontinue and that it puts you in an awkward position. After all you were only being truthful. Maybe in hindsight it would have been better to tell her that you do not want to get involved.

I doubt very much you would be disciplined.. you have done nothing wrong!
the other lady on the other hand has. she sounds like a bully.
we had a girl like that who was bullying another girl i worked with, so me and some others mounted a campaign of silence... we spoke only to the one being bullied and not the bully. after about 4 weeks she soon changed her attitude...

it might be worth you both saying you want to work on a different shift rotation as you do not like the way she talks about people.

Sounds like you were forced to tell the woman what was said about her so how can you be at fault?

Some women at work can be Bitches with a capital B.

workplace bitching is very common. that is why i work with 5 men i am the onlly female. its great cos men dont waste their time worrying bout what the other has said, if they have a problem they just say it straight. hope all goes ok, just tell the management exactly what happened and i am sure this lady will have done this before.

No you will not get disciplined, i think they just wanna get to the bottom of it before they discipline the one who was being unprofessional.

Welcome to working with women............we all love a good b***h every once in a while.
