Imagine you are with a Zen Master. He picks up a stick and raises it over your head, saying, " If you say that this stick is real, I will hit you with it. If you say that this stick is not real, I will hit you with it. Is this stick real or not?"

What would be your answer, or what would you do?

I would snatch it away from him really quick and say "you have a lot to learn young grasshopper"

and then I would run for my life because a Zen Master would be after me.

If you have a really good imagination, the Zen Master is real and he/she will hit you no matter what you say. If your imagination is great, the master will stumble and drop the stick and you can get outta there.

If you imagine that you are with a zen master then the stick will not be real. But if you use "imagine" to mean that "say you are with" then I would say " This stick is real, master."

My answer would be: It doesn't matter does it? All that matters is how it feels when it hits me. The stick, being real or unreal, has nothing to do with me until it interacts with me.

I would say it is real as to not offend the master.
