I have a 128 MB ATI Radeon x300 Hypermemory. Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor says it is compatible but Dell Vista Readiness Advisor says that it can't support Aero.

There are really two questions, can it support it "officially" and can it support it in reality. Officially, it looks like maybe. According to Microsoft, you need a DirectX 9 card, with 128MB of video RAM, that supports WDDM drivers. Yours is DirectX 9, however I am not sure whether it would qualify for 128MB since it uses HyperMemory, meaning it does not actually have 128MB of video RAM, it borrows some from the main memory. As for the WDDM driver, who knows, Microsoft says you need a card that supports it, then doesn't bother to tell you which cards do.

In reality, even if the card does "officially" support it, you will not get good performance at all from it, running Aero with that card will most likely slow down your entire computer.

I would go with what Dell said. I bet you need the 256 Mb board.
