Trouble with settings?

i have two comps running through a router but on some games sites we can not join each other but on others we can not, someone says its a setting but im not very good at computers can u help

Go to your my computer icon and rightclick and select properties. Go to computer name. Make sure the computer name is unique, but the group name is the same on both computers.. Then go to control panel and select network places, then select network connections. Right click on your ethernet adapter and select properties. Go to TCP/IP and select properties. If your using a linksys router, its probably set to give out addresses automatically. You can cange this if you want. You can assign it an ip address of say 192.168.1.10 subnet of 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway would be 192.168.1.1 and the DNS would be 192.168.1.1 as well. The key though is make sure both computers are part of the same workgroup.
