This is just something I'm curious about. Not trying to make fun. But, how come for example where there are say 2 gay girls. One dresses like a man. And same for guys. When there's a gay male couples, one grows their hair long and dresses more feminine. If you are gay and both guys, why do you try to look like female? Or if both women gays, why try to look more male if you are attacted to women. If you are female and gay and attracted to female, why the partner tries to look male. Just odd to me is all. Not being mean honest.

Gender roles are socially constructed. For a male to take on more "female" characteristics, or a female to take on more "male" characteristics all it means is that they are more comfortable portraying those traits, rather than the ones that society dictates for us. For example, when people have kids they often wrap of their newborn girl in pink, and boy in blue. This is what society has decided is appropriate for each sex, but it doesn't mean it is what's best for everyone. The boy may grow up to love pink and wear it all the time, but chances are he will be ostracized for it for no other reason then it has been somewhat designated as a female color. It's not so much that the people in these couples are trying to mimic a heterosexual relationship with a male and female, they just don't conform to societies definition of feminine and masculine. I hope this helps.

In that type of relationship it's because one partner is dominate and one is submissive. It also more about how the person feels, In the mind one thinks like a man, the other a woman but they are the same-sex. This is natural but it's not always the case that there will always be a masculine and feminine partner in a gay relationship.

Many gay people associate sexual orientations with gender identity. For instance, a lesbian who is attracted to women may identify as a straight man in her mind. It sounds a bit strange to most people, but the thing is, straights do it as well. Say, the cheerleader who dresses like a teenybopper to get her man.

It is simply about identity. There may be a lesbian who feels like she is a protecter and want to shower with affection. Whereas a gay male may prefer to be cuddled and more sensitive. It's however they feel on the outside, portrayed on the out. It's not about the relationship. It's about who they really are.

I don't think you're trying to be malicious at all. I can tell that you are just curious. To be honest, I don't really know the answer to this question. I guess it's just the way people want to express themselves.

You're kidding with this, right? No one in my relationship is trying to look like a female, or act like one. I'm a bit insulted by your presumptions.
