will the songs on my external hard drive work (on a new computer) if my computer fails?

Just copy your itune files onto the external hard drive, they will play then on any computer the hard drive is plugged into, providing the computer has a player which accepts the itunes format

You treat an external drive just like an internal one. If your computer fails, the drive is still good to transfer to another computer.

Just find the letter assigned to your drive. Go to START, RUN, then in the window click browse, then click MY COMPUTER. Copy the letters of drives there. Then follow instructions on hooking up your external drive. Now go back and click MY COMPUTER and see the new drive listed. Then when you transfer your music, that drive letter is the drive you are moving the music files to.

Copy you iTunes music folder onto the external hard drive. Thats about it.
Any yeah, all the songs will work.

any external drive wrks on any pc dude, its like having a usb...

to back up try just exporting all song to the drive ur exteranal one is in. exmpl. (G:) OR E:
