In link 1 the DDR (184 pins)is on the bottom and SDram (168 pins) is on the top.

This link shows a DDR2 (200 pin) module.
None of them are interchangable.

You cannot use DDR in a motherboard that takes DDR2. It wont even fit in the slot.
However there are a (very) few Pentium 4 boards that will have slots for both DDR and DDR2, but most will not have slots for both and you cannot mix them!

No. The pin format and type of pins on the DIMMs (sticks) are diverse. They bodily gained't in effective condition. DDR = 184 pin DDR2 = 240 pin extra be conscious: merely to sparkling up some confusion, your motherboard chipset will both help DDR1 or DDR2. there is no backwards compatibility from DDR2 to DDR1 or vice versa. those are 2 sorts of memory, no longer merely differences in speed. you could run diverse speeds of RAM (ie: PC2100, PC2700, PC3200 for DDR1 or PC4200, PC5400, PC6400 for DDR2 etc) and they are going to function on the bottom speed once you've more effective than one persist with diverse speeds, notwithstanding the memory form should be an identical form for all for the reason that your board can merely help both DDR1 or DDR2. Your previous motherboard has 2 memory slots yet both are for DDR1 form RAM if it truly is a DDR1 form board. the second one slot is to operate in a second memory stick of an identical form. If it says it helps "twin channelling" then it truly is diverse than DDR2. twin channelling calls for 2 of an identical means and sort memory for higher performance and works on both DDR1 or DDR2 motherboards. in case your second slot change into for DDR2 then you fairly bodily would not manage to plug a DDR1 form stick into it. also DDR1 runs at 2.8v and DDR2 runs at a million.8v so if inspite of if it were made to in effective condition, you would likely fry something.

No Not at all DDR is a slighty diffrent technology than DDR2 and the cut outs on the PCB are in a slightly diffrent place and wont fit at all. DDR2 runs at faster speeds as well DDR only goes as far as 400mhz or DDR PC3200

DDR and DDR2 have a different amount of pins which Slot into the mother board and frequency's. It won't work, Plus you can pick up ddr2 pc4300 533Mhz ram cheap =)

Some many answers. Go to pcworld.com and cnet.com. They have the articles on building your computer. Lot of questions I can answer but this is a generic pasted response I give to everyone. If you ask, then you need to find the answer on one of the two sites. Example you can put a video card in but will your power supply handle it.
