If it helps, I have a friend who is a doctor (OB/GYN). I asked him once what it was like to look at women all day long. He assured me there was no sexual attraction whatsoever. He equated it with being a car mechanic and focusing just on a single part that needed examination or repair. Just like with a car - you don't feel attracted to a "part" - it is getting to know the whole vehicle and how it drives that makes you desire it. Rest assured that your doctor - male or female- is looking at you in a clinical way. They are there to help. Also - to put your mind at ease - you are probably right about it being a cyst. Breast cancer is rarely painful while cysts almost always are. Make the appointment and try taking a vitamin E supplement before you go. This acts to reduce the cyst and can actually make them not recur.

You're just another patient to a doctor... ur breasts are just a body part... the lump should be ur biggest concern, especially if it's painful. That's usually a sign of infection...
As for the examination -- the doctor palpates your breast for further lumps like its a piece of silly putty -- very, very impersonal. Nurses are the same. Also, you don't just 'whip it out' as you put it. You put on one of those hospital gown-things.
But if you are STILL embarrassed, get a female doctor.

It's embarrassing at any age whether your a virgin or not. suggest seeing a female doctor and soon or just keep breathing deeply and have it checked the sooner the better convince yourself that you need to have check ups more in the future as they are a good thing and necessary so be a responsible human being do the right thing and look after yourself

I know it can be scary to see a doctor, and have them look at you, but if you think about it, how scary would it be to leave it, have it be something major, and not found out? a lot of things are better when caught early..... There is something called fibrocystic breast disease which i think is basically a fluid filled sac in your breast and is nothing to be worried about, or so i am told. But i had a lump in my breast, and it turned out it was related to cancer. So always be better safe than sorry, and get things youa re not sure about checked out. ASnd i am only 20, so you usually dont think of a young person with cancer (not saying you have cancer or anything)
As for getting your mind off it, try thinking of something else, or looking at somewhere in the office.....

Having them check your breasts is a million times more comfortable than having them check your vaginal area... THATS embarrassing. I think you need to go to a doctor you are comfortable with, probably a female. Make sure you feel good around her, and then just tell her about the lump. You just have to!

First of all there are many female doctors available. Many male doctors have female nurse practitioners who do the "female exams". Do not delay get to get yourself to a doctor right away. I am sure a school nurse can also give you suggestions.

Virginity has nothing to do with breast examinations or vaginal examinations. Doctors have seen too many to count. If you would be more comfortable with a woman, go that route—but get examined.

A doctor has seen more breast than he/she can count. Also if you look for a female doctor that might help. I have a female Doctor and it does not bother me to have her see me naked when nessary.

I would ask for a woman doctor & have her explain the procedure before she examines you. :)
If you feel uncomfortable, have your mom go with you into the examining room.
