Within the last couple of years (I have no idea when exactly) there was a survey or study done, and it was discovered that men who are considered "gentlemen" (I don't know what being considered a "gentleman" involved or whether it was about profession or intelligence or income) prefer women with light brown hair.

?... First, what is a G-Man? Know what? I do not have anything against blonds, but I think that IN GENERAL, I repeat, IN GENERAL, dark skinned women are hoter than blonds, and this goes to black, mulatas, indians and of course, latinas... To me they look more... what can I say? ... ... ... HOT.
I THINK men prefer blonds because as they are beautiful (?), they do not need to learn anything; so, men THINK they can buy them either with words or with things and not having any responsability. Of course there are exceptions, but I believe that there is no smoke without a fire and if people tell stories-jokes about blonds, there must be some why. On the other hand, I stated my preference, more than answering your question.

I think they just like what the unusual...
say, for instance, in countries where people are realitvely darker, say the Morroco(with their olive skin) blondes would be a big deal.
On the other hand, in countries where blondes are a surplus, like Finland, the would not be such a big deal.
People are generally attracted to the unusual.
Studies say that real blondes are becoming rare and that trend is expected to continue in the future...so may be...yes...you never know...lol ;)

It depends on the guy. Most guys like blondes because, (generally speaking, but not for all blondes,) are ditzy and tend to be arrogant. I'm blonde, but I'm not stupid or an airhead, it's just that I see many cases in school on a day-to-day basis who get "trapped" by jerks who only like them for their hotness and body.

Light colored hair is associated with youth ,especially blondes.Youth implies a better likelyhood of healthy children.....Gentlemen prefer Ladies

In evolutionary psychology the Theory is that a man is more attracted to a blond because they have more hairs on their head (true) thus they are more fertile women with better offspring. (not necessarily true)

Well I'm not a guy but as far as I am concerned blonde is better. And I woulld know. I'm a natrul blonde girl and when I tried going brown hair I didn't get half the attention I usually get from the boys. All I have tosay is BELEIVE ME BLONDE IS BETTER!!!
