I'll tell you when I grow up (=when there will be no excuse for me to say I'm not a grown up). But, suppose I am. Is this necessarily a good thing?

Unfortunately not. At least not yet. I always wanted to become a famous pianist and composer. Well, it's not the easiest thing in the world.
