want to cut out my letting agent as i thhink there parasites but need to know if i can credit check hopeful tenants and how i go about it

it is a big risk doing it urself but i do it myself
umm i don't know if u can get a credit check on them or not but what i have done is take out landlords insurance with rent insurance as a added extra so if the tennants don't pay up the insurance company will pay the court fees and pay u for loss of rent .
