Some mechanics will smell the dipstick then offer you a smell it will always smell like it is burning. They will tell you you need to change it...Jiffy Lube does this a lot....dont be fooled. Follow your owners manual recommendation for changing it.

Most cars (front wheel drive and any v-engine) cross the exaust under the transmission. If your transmission leaks, then it leaks on the exaust and burns off. It stinks, but you would know it if there was enough leaking to cause a fire.
Trans leaks are hard to fix, so I wouldn't worry about it.

you is unquestionably no longer waiting to detect a Honda or Toyota in stable shape for $1000. do no longer purchase any vehicle that desires transmission paintings. i offered my vehicle 2 years in the past with under 100k on it for $1000 and that's a brilliant vehicle. it somewhat is a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, comparable simply by fact the Buick Century. they're underrated and underpriced, and that they are popular to final very long. additionally verify out different previous Buicks/Oldsmobiles and previous Ford Escorts.

your mechanic did not say where or how older cars with a modulator can be burning trans fluid , modulator works with vacum from engine .if it is bad the vacum line becomes a fluid line burning trans fluid it will make car sluggish.also there are cars with trans leak where by trans fluid blows toward the rear of vehicle dropping on catalyst converter causing fire

It is probably an older car with a modulator valve to control the shift points. Have a new modulator valve installed if this the problem, should be fairly cheap.

burnt oil will damage the valve body.what you need to do is change the oil and filter (pronto)before it gets slipping.
