Perhaps you will rember that america was also founded on the back on convicts. Whats more like america there were also free settlers in the first fleet (check out your history books if you dont know about this) those daring enough to challenge the confines of the "known"
Fortunetly for me my ancestors were in this class.
in any case I think you have made a casing piont to this question, you need intellegence to pull off both wit and sarcasm...
cheers for the thought though... and good luck with that

I'm a scarcastic cow - I really can't help it. I find it most amusing. My parents are British born Australians, and noone can deliver scarcasm like my dad - he has me in stitches.
Who you telling off? - I'm missing out on everything now - wahhhh

You're thinking of the pun.
Sarcasm is possibly the most INSULTING form of humor. I do tend to indulge in it too much, but I try to restrain myself to when the person to whom I'm speaking gives every indication of not understanding plain English. (I find LOTS of people don't understand plain English, but most of them understand when they are being condescended to.) (Yeah, shame on me for ending that previous sentence in a preposition.)
But I WILL pun or use sarcasm, because I've always found that the easiest way to establish a link between two points is to utilize a STRAIGHT LINE.

QLD;
I've met very few people who can 'pull off' sarcasm. Mainly because there arn't many people who actually understand it.
To be effectively sarcastic, you must understand the person, thing, idea that your making fun of. My son and daughter had to learn sarcsm from me. Once they understood it, our conversations became deeper, richer and a lot more fun. 'Slapstick' now that's low

Sarcasm is great. Charlie Sheen made a career out of it.

i find sarcasm highly intelligent if retorted quickly!
using a wrong word or making up a word has to be lower than sarcasm!
but then i'm aussie too.. we like taking the piss.. lol

Of course not! That's such an outdated expression.
It is the lazy man's wit, though.

I don't think so. Sarcasm is my favorite as long as there's some intelligence in it.

No sarcasm is usually quite witty, however when someone uses it in a rude way then they just look stupid and immature. :)
