I find it interesting that people are shocked with some slurs, but seem to feel others are okay.

Is a "white trash party" any more okay than the "ghetto party" had at that college in Texas on MLK Day? It all seem very wrong to me.

If the word is offensive it should not be used. Respect one racial group, respect all. It do not matter what the word means if it is offensive do not use it.

There's nothing at all wrong with the term 'White Trash'; in fact I use it every day when I refer to White Trash Billy (Clinton).

Now, the N-Word - whoa, that's a whole different matter! Why? Well, 'cause black folks say so, that's why! And white folks love their collective guilt (at least the left-wingers do (not too sure about the right-wingers!)) so they play along to keep the peace.

So if someone else does something you consider impolite, then you should do something equally rude in return? Seems people all too often excuse their own bad behavior by pointing at some else's. Try to concentrate on your own behavior-you can control that.

Boil it all down.....when you are using a term that causes someone else pain in any way regardless of race, sex, religion etc etc it is wrong. Practicing compassion is difficult but very healing. This world needs a lot of healing right now and it starts with every single one of us. When you 'label' anyone you are increasing their suffering as well as your own. I'm very sorry that some of the the human beings answering this woud call you names. Kindness never hurt anyone.
Blessings to all of you.

You need to read about the "N" word, where it came from, how it got here, how it was used, slavery and segregation and lynchings Jim Crowe and the KKK and MLK.

Clearly you do not have a grasp on the pain that will never be erased from that time in our history. Never under any circumstances should you use that word, in any context, if you are an intelligent and decent person.

You can't compare it to anything else, it's just not the same.

I am glad that you seem to recognize that it lowers your standards to respond to someone using a slur by doing the same thing. It just takes a little maturity to see that anyone who would talk like this doesn't have anything worthwhile to say so ignore it and it will go away.

its really no different, wrong is wrong. But white people are in the majority, so we aren't supposed to be offended or hurt by anything. Serious double standard.
However with regard to the "N" word, that can be derogatory for any race. Realistically it means ignorant. The "white trash" is pretty self explanatory, lol.
I wouldn't have any problem going to either one of those parties, I'm proud of my white trash ancestory, lol.

White trash doesn't sound as bad as ******. But I guess both terms are rasist and should be equally as bad.
The N-word came from a long time ago when black people were slaves abd weren't even considered humans. They were called *******. Calling someone white trash isn't as horrible as calling them a ******.

The - Indigo Cobra- is the best example of racism I've seen since Jesse Jacksons' "Hymie Town" . It is either OK or Wrong. If it is OK for One it's OK for all.
