I think Im having an issue with my graphics card. I have a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200. I can't seem to play the Sims 2 anymore. It chops all up and freezes. Impossible to play. This happens at the city selection screen. I uninstalled the drivers, installed them back, uninstalled them, tried older drivers, those didnt work..tried newer drivers...Absolutely nothing works! This game was working fine last week, any ideas?

Closed all processes except for the ones I need, no background programs, I don't have anything on my computer really. Scanned entire computer with no viruses and no spy/adware. When I run the game it loads up fine as I said, and everything works until I get to the city select, then it's all choppy and there is no visible image, it looks like just a mess of lines and colors. I don't know what this is. Other games on my computer (Zoo Tycoon 2) have also been affected.

Have you tried re-installing the game?

It could be a gfx problem, but it doesn't sound like it.

The graphics card is fine. The menus are run by the cpu as if it were a regular 2d window, which it is.
It sounds to me that you might have a virus or spyware. You might just have too many programs in your tray. or maybe you have a clogged cpu heatsink, which can reduce performance greatly and even cause the cpu to fry.
Close every process you can and see.

Hi. Check your Task Manager to see if there are programs running in the background that chew up your CPU time.

Close all programmes that take up a lot of RAM and uninstall ones you don't need.
