Because they are people! The other man's grass....and all that.
Equally sad is that sometimes people want something, pay a high price for it (not neccessarily money) and then do not want what they have got.
A very wise man once said, "I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content" A great philosophy which would leave a lot less discontented people.

it just seems to be part of human nature. if someone can't have something then they want it really bad but if they are able to get it then it is not as important and they don't have the appreciation for it like they should.

To look good or to try and pull with nice cars and also as a massive ego boost. Also something you cant have is 99% more desireable and exciting.

Maybe because they are bored? Too many of us are materalistic..... and once we get everything we want, we just get bored till we see something that we don't really need and start wanting. It gives us a buzz I suppose.

because the challenge is frustrating but worth it in the end when you finally get what you want.
