No, it is never too late to start piano lessons! I started when I was almost 20 years old. I'm now almost 22 and have already made very good progress towards playing advanced material. The keys are visualizing what you want to accomplish, practicing hard everyday, finding a good teacher, following your enthusiasm, and setting reasonable goals for yourself. It will not come overnight, but in a few years, I promise you that it will be worth it. Don't wait, don't put it off! Ask your parents about lessons today, or maybe you could help them out by researching a teacher. Try calling a local church or music school and locating a teacher. Playing the piano will truly take you to a completely new world.

When I was 20 years old, I heard Chopin for the first time. The next day I went out and bought 6 CD's of Chopin. 2 weeks later I bought a piano. 10 years later, I can play a lot of that same Chopin that inspired me to learn.
If the desire to learn is there, age is irrelevant. You may be starting too late to acheive the fluency necessary to be a famous classical or jazz virtuoso, but with hard work you can become a solidly proficient musician capable of making a living playing piano.

My goodness no it's not too late. My Mom took piano lessons a couple years ago and she got really good. You are still very young and have your whole life ahead of you. You are just beginning your journey so anything is possible. Remember that!

Piaget!, a Swiss Psycologue, studied the case of a young boy ,11 years old, educated by animals in a forest. The young boy could not learn well the language, but had very skillfull body movement and stayed the same through out of his life.
Learning is like swimming, if you can swim in a pool you can swim in a sea shore. But, at the condition of a calm sea. To swim in a harder condition needs some special training.
The best is to begin to learn and see what happens. Sometimes, you do not become a famous pianist but you can enjoy from playing and maybe others enjoy as well.

You are young yet. It is never too late to start playing. If you start now, you will be incredible by the time you are in your late teens.

well i'm thirteen and i've been thinking about it but you have to be the most motivated person in the world because just the thought of mallet percussion drives me crazy. you should definitely try because 50 year olds do it so we can too.

No, not at all! If you really have the desire to learn, you might do better than some 5-year-old whose parents are forcing to learn. Good luck and follow your dream! :)
