I play basketball and am in so much pain everywhere I cant hardly take it.
-My left knee I can hardly jump off of, I just get a shooting pain. I have little cartiledge in either of my knees and I dont know if that is causing it. I also tore my meniscus in my knee last summer and am just wondering if that could be causing it as well. I would like to know if it is my meniscus can I do any further damage to it or is it ok to play through it. My knee gives out occasionally and my coaches keep wondering whats going on and I just ignore them but I really need to know if I should get to the doctor.

the cartilage can keep tearing when it's already torn, so you can do much more damage by playing on it. the cartilage moving in and out is what causing the knee to just go out on you, the pain just triggers it to go out like that

your coaches should have already insisted on you going to see a doctor! torn meniscus feels so much better right after surgery, not that you can play immediately, but doesn't take too much down time. HOWEVER, if you end up doing more damage to the joint by falling...well, you should know that's much worse!!!!

take care, and go to an orthopedic!!!!!

I just had knee surgery,,was a torn meniscus, all the way around with oestoarthritis,,did micrscopic surgury to repair the tear and and scrape the knee cap..had shooting pain at night and woke me everynight...doctor did repair the damage and seems better know,,but still have problems kneeling down on all 4's this is still 4 months ago,,will have other knee done aswell,,,with your sports you might damage the knee even more without having a doctor look at the problem,,,and knee replacement I hear is nastey and very painful,,,So I recommend you take care of this ASAP., as if you wait problem will just get worse,,also depends on your age//as you get older it will get worse,,hope this helps..

I also have knee problems as well. in fact I dislocated my knee about 2 years ago. I would suggest you give your knee a break and put some ice on it or something. If things don't inprove then go see your doctor. Good luck to ya!!!
