I'm 22 and had a circumcision last summer. I am covered under my mom's Kaiser insurance and they paid for it. The member services people told me all that stuff is confidential if the patient is over 18 so my mom wouldn't find out. Should I tell her I got circumcised? I'm afraid she'll be mad because after all if she thought it was good to be she would've did it to me when I was young. I was a premie as a baby but if she wanted to she could've when I was more stable.
So do you think I should tell her? What do you think her reaction will be? Is it possible her finding out through insurance anytime?

If the bill goes to her it's possible she'll find out. Even if it doesn't list what the surgery is, she may still wonder what the charge is for and ask her. I personally think it's your body so it's your choice what to do with it. If she has an issue with it, that's now I'd explain it to her. Because of the body part in question, it's even more personal and really she doesn't get a say in it. If it makes you feel more clean and/or comfortable you have every right to do it.

If the bill goes to her and not you, I'd call the billing department and ask them how the bill will look and if you can take care of it before the bill comes out. Explain the reasons to them. This is the only problem you may encounter. She doesn't get a say in what you do to your body however she has the right to be pissed if she has to then pay for it. If you can get the bill taken care of or if she'll ever see the bill, don't say anything to her. There is no way she'd ever know otherwise and really, it's none of her business.

You have absolutely no direct-debt to pay to her by telling her this. Yes, it's something personal and mothers are automatically close to their children.

But you're a grown man, she knows she's paying for your insurance, and I can only guess that her reaction may be a lil tilted.

Maybe she'll feel disrespected because you didnt tell her before hand, hurt that her decision not to circumsize you wasnt enough for you, etc. Maybe an initial feeling of guilt because she didnt know that it was somethin you wantedd and she didnt help you with it earlier in life.

But no, you have no duty to tell her, only if you feel that telilng her will make you feel better.

The truth will come out somehow...
Its better you tell her now then she find out later.
She'll be mad at first but as time passes she'll learn to forgive you....

Would she want to know? Doubt that she'd be much bothered, after all it's your body. If not then that particular surgery is unlikly to get accidentally noticed is it?
