it's always possible but it depends on your school district's policy and/or discretion with those situations. Generally the rule is if the school is operational and buses can run, all safely, then school will likely be open.

Somebody -- people who run the school -- has to decide if school is going to be open because of cold. Depending on where you live, they could do this at different temperatures.
For Washington state, USA, some schools close if the temperature is -10 F. The school people expect you have warm enough clothes, and cover up enough, so that the windchill is not so important.
But if you are in south Florida, they might close school at 32 F.

Hey Dude,
I am now 37years old but I remember those days well. If it gets cold enough maybe the pipes will burst around the school which will force them to close. Answer though. If the temperature is dangerously cold and they are running news WARNINGS that state"Life threatening wind chill Advisory" then you will be out of school.

Our schools stay open until -65 degrees. (Idaho) So, schools pretty much stay open all the time. I've lived here 6 yrs and school was only closed once.

Sure, especially if your school teaches the very young and many of the children are expected to walk...Then it may be too dangerous for them to be out. Just remember, they will probably have you make up the day in June...

Sure, if you go outside and instantaneously die from your heart freezing solid, then it's too cold to go to school. :D
