You can change it but it wont hurt ne thing. they are very similar as far as additives and lubrication quality. Actually an old school trick we still use today is to pour a quart of trans fluid in with oil to clean and get rid of sludge build up drive it for a week and it will clean the heads and oil passages then drain it out should be fine.

I merely requested my husband who's a motor mechanic and he's horrified at what has occurred. even if it truly is an automobile don'tchronic in any respect it you'll ruin it, transmission oil and motor oil are compared to minded. He gave a lengthy clarification notwithstanding the base line is 'don'tchronic it' drain each and every of the oil and replace with transmission oil.

I wouldn't worry too much. Some people put transmission fluid in their engines to clean them. If you are really worried, just get an oil change.

Change it ASAP it can ruin it if you leave it in there too long, One thing though is that trans oil can clean your engine so at least you got one good thing out of it

Drain it and change the oil filter also. Do it ASAP. And it'll be OK if you wait, there is a potential for some serious motor damage.

I would not worry about it. It is not uncommon to use 20w engine oil in a transmission. Trans oil and engine oil aren't that different since both lubricate, so don't worry about it, especially since it's only a quart.
