I would let my principal know I was doing it first; but, it COULD be taught in the context of literature. I have taken college (not private either) courses that taught the Bible as Lit. I would just make it know that I was teaching the strategies for analyzing the text and not teaching the content. I think you could probably get away with it that way. Good luck!! I'd go for it!
