Yes, a hob is typically about 8-10 kw loading and should be connected to a 'Cooker' circuit 30-32 amp rating.

A hob should not be connected to a 16/20 amp circuit or it will trip if more than 2 rings are on full heat.

Despite a hob being 8-10 KW, diversity should be applied which means the circuit should (typically) be 16/20 Amp rating.

10A + 30% of remaining maximum demand in Amps
(+5A if there's a socket on the cooker switch)
