Why do you think people (non-black) have a problem with admitting that Ancient Egypt was a black civilization?

Is it that they just believe in Hollywood, have inherited traditional assumptions, are just oblivious to the facts regarding it, racially motivated, never thought about it, or something deeper... why?

Even on dictionary.com it said it was a caucasian civilization for a while, but they have changed that for the present time. Yet, they still don't speak about the truth of the matter.

Lync- we're talking about "Ancient" Egypt, not today's Egypt. What is now called the middle east, was 100% black in ancient times. The Babylonians were black. So the people who inhabited Iran and Iraq were black in Ancient times. This whole area was inhabited by descendants of Ham, but not all black people are Hamitic. Look at how they depicted themselves, no white features...

Dave from DC-
That is an interesting theory because for the first few centuries all of the paintings and statues of Messiah and Mary were black people, in Rome, Russia, Germany, etc. They didn't start white washing history until after the middle ages (I could be off on when they exactly started)...

Below the picture of the lion they have some pictures of the virgin with child.

Here's a quote from a first century Roman General, Cornelius Tacitus, in his book "The Histories."

Many, again, say that they [Israelites] were a race of Ethiopian origin, who in the time of king Cepheus were driven by fear and hatred of their neighbors to seek a new dwelling-place.

It's impossible to confuse an Arab or European with a Ethiopian.

Lync- keep in mind that your theory supposes that one can take a picture of a white american to prove that Native Americans didn't live here. There are still blacks in Egypt as well as Native here, before we run to silliness.

When it comes to places like Hollywood, it's all about who is going to see the movie...People are smart, but brown skin on someone that is highly looked upon (i.e. Jesus or Cleopatra), is deemed offensive to some people who are white. They look at whatever or whoever in question and wonder to us why can't we just accept that person in white skin? If an ancient artifact was found today and it said that Jesus was really black, I think so many non-black people would stop believing and those who kept believing, would probably ignore it. Essentially, white skin is looked upon as better than brown in so many cultures.

Good ques ton. I have pondered this in the past and I do have a theory. I think the root of why Caucasians tend to get weird when confronted with the fact that ancient Egypt was an African civilization is religion. Egypt is the land Jesus fled to when Her rod was killing babies and the such. SOooo for these lands be so close in proximity would mean in all probability (wait for it...) JESUS IS BLACK. this tends to make some whites and Jewish people feel weird. Don't know why just think it could be part of the reason.

I once told a "white" friend of mine (this was about a month ago) this fact and he was very shocked!

PS: He is a highly educated financial analyst. But he didn't know this fact.

Believe me, when I tell you that ton's of people do not know that the ancient Egyptians were black.

True words. Like the Americanization of Jesus. He was NOT white. Yet America decided that white people are better. It makes me angry as well.

Keep on preaching, my friend!

Right I know I'm not black but Egypt is in North Africa. Caucasians vary from very pale white skin to olive and light brown skin. North Africans are caucasians. I have a friend who is from Algeria , which is close to Egypt and he has olive skin. Egyptians do have darker skin than white people but they are still caucasian. Look caucasian up and you will see it covers north africans. I know they didn't look like Elizabeth Taylor and Hollywood is to blame for people thinking that Egyptians are white when they are not, they are arabic. Would you call people from Iran or Iraq black? because people from Egypt look alot like them.

Does this woman look black, I know she is not white but people should realise that Africa is a huge continent, and seeing as I know a North African person I have to say that he is by no means black, just like this person in the link.
