I have experience working in only one other place before but still it seems a bit low... the job is a sales associate at macy's in florida

Girl, yes. Flordia's minimum wage is $6.67. But the question is do you really want the job? You not thinking you're making good money makes me think you want more money. I doubt you will make more money standing in an air conditioned shop looking at nice clothing, accessories, shoes, homewares, etc.

Who do you know that's making more money than that? And what are they doing?

Florida is not a state that pays big wages.
Some of this has to do with the quality of
help.
Put some time in. Make a good impression.
Show that you're dependable (This is a biggie
in Florida)
Then ask for a raise.
A lot of places down here pay reliable help
$10 an hour.

That is too low in my standards. Only you can determine what you want in terms of a payrate. Everyone has pay rates that they thinkl that is way too low that they won't accept it. A good payrate is something that you can survive on without being broke.

I have no experience in anything but construction and still I wont get out of bed for less than 15.

I would have to say no. Especially living in Florida, where the cost of everything is so high.
