Maybe because there is water damage??????? That happened to my phone and it sucks, had to get it replaced. Didn't go through the washer, just water damage!!

the antenna probably got shorted out. If you have insurance, your carrier will replace it with a deductable. If you don't, I hope you are out of your contract and can upgrade, or else you will have to pay full retail, which is a couple more hundred dollars that the 2yr price.
