I have 2 turtles, one is a redeared slider and the other is different..I found both of them at a lake by my home. I have noticed lately that one of the turtles is getting in the others face and waving his claws at her. I read online this is a mating thing that they do. Is it possible for them to mate in my aquarium? also is it possible for them to mate when they are different types?

It is possible for them to breed. Since you found them in the same habitat they are apparently of the same genis and genetically feasible. If they do it is called a hybrid, and you would possibly be the only person in the world to own one. Although those of us in the Field do not recognize captive bred hybreeding as a new species, they would be valueless. Good luck

Courtship rituals are like locks and keys. The male is using some specific signals to try to get the female to respond in a specific way. If the female does not respond right, mating does not occur.

In cases where the male mates anyway, everything has to physically fit right. Even if everything fits OK, then species that are not closely enough related cannot produce fertile eggs.

they could the two be purple-eared sliders. Sheldon could be turning out to be greater immediately. In any adventure, they are too small so which you will intercourse wisely. you are going to be able to get an concept approximately species (or subspecies) via consulting a container handbook. If the decrease shell has an mind-blowing mark over maximum of its length, purple-eared slider is greater possibly. If there are black spots on the front a million/2 basically, lean in direction of yellow-bellied slider. To make issues greater complicated, those 2 subspecies do intergrade. The turtles can stay out of water for hours yet many times prefer to not. supply them a place to swim and a place to bask and enable them to make the alternative for themselves.
