So on here no one really knows what the octane rate of E85 really is? We have from 85 to over 100 octane in your
answers.

100-105. It's reasonably high octane, but it takes a lot of work to convert to it if you don't have an FFV.
And for the other idiot who answered, according to the same source, E85 drops fuel economy 5-15%

it will vary between 85 to 87 octane ,its not always steady ,but then neither is pure gasoline it doesn't have a steady rate either ,based on test that was done it also varies a lot,but never below 85 octane ,that's why some times you car runs better than others even though you buy the same gas at the same place,it always varies in ratings,mainly because it doesn't have the lead in it anymore to make it stable ,the old fuel was more stable than what we use now,good luck on this,i hope this help,s.

its about 100 octane but you have to add so much air to it the octane level is not the same anymore

Pure ethanol is 107-108 octane.

So 85% would be something around 100. Do not use if your car is not fuel flexible, it's gonna blow up the engine.

Can't answer that, but I can tell you I've read that you have to use 40% more fuel to get the same distance compared to using regular fuel.
