im having issues getting my remote to turn on to use it on someone elses console.

You should be able to, I use my controller at my friends house all the time. Make sure its charged before you use it..

You sure can, just take a look at the instruction manual for it, and there you go... that's assuming you still have it, if you don't you can most likely find it online.
