My credit is SO bad that I can't get a cell phone without an extreme down payment. Are there any differences between those pay as you go phones?
I'm going to be on the road, truck driving, so I'll have to find something that will work pretty well as far as reception and all.

Some phones have cameras, music players, etc. But they all have the same rates and plans. You put units on your Tracfone account by either using the menu in the phone, calling customer care, or buying cards.

I have a Virgin Mobile phone and I chose the plan where I pay $6.99 a month for the service (monthly charge) and each additonal 1 minute I call is 10 cents. 10 cents per minute. There is something called "Top-up" for $15 but I think what that is is just when my $15 worth of ten cents gets used up I need to top up another $15. You top-up when out of the $15 worth to make calls or once every three months. Extra things like text messages and new games or ringtones cost more money though, but I don't use them.

I bought my phone for $19.99 plus tax--you have to buy the phone to use the service and I got it from Safeway, so you don't have to sign a contract with the store. You pay as you go and if you don't pay, they just don't give you service.

Everyone in my family has a Tracfone and I've used it as I've traveled from Indiana to Arizona with no problems whatsoever. The only thing is as you roam you use double the minutes. Overall the cost of my phone compared with people who use other companies is so much less it's not even funny and you can get lots of different types of phones depending on your needs. I personally wouldn't hesitate to recommend this phone to you.
