I can't choose a single musical.
My favorites:
1. Wicked - great music and set and plot
2. Rent - gotta love this rock musical, and because it's very relevant to today's society (AIDS, homosexuality, etc>) And the music is great.
3. Les Miserables - great score
4. Miss Saigon - again, because of the score and, wow, the helicopter scene. Who knew you can put a helicopter inside the theatre? How did they get it there anyway?
5. Annie and The Sound Of Music- my first favorite.
My other faves: Phantom, The Producers (hilarious!), A Chorus Line (because of the dancing), Evita
Off-Broadway: The Fantasticks, and Forbidden Broadway: Special Victims Unit

Ugh, Ive never been a fan of phantom. There are so many good musicals it is hard to pick. The most recent one I loved was Spring Awakening (like rent, only with 1800s german school children) and I love the music from Wicked, though the actually show leaves something to be desired. Oh, I know! 1776! So funny! I mean, really, what other show gives you the members of the continental congress being dirty old pervs?

Chicago and Rent. They're the only ones that I have seen (on screen because I am too poor to get theatre tickets).
