It doesn't seem right that so many homework questions be asked and answered here. Are we helping school kids cheat? Are we helping them to fail? Do they learn anything from the exercise? Should they work the problems out with their parents? With their peers?

I absolutely agree with your complaint about this. it's no fun having to scan over all the questions looking for the interesting ones that don't obviously have to do with homework. How many of them say, "Show your work", which immediately turns me off? Yes, a lot of them have learned that this is an easy way to get their homework done, and it's doubtful that they even bother to understand how it was done.

What's the cure for it, I don't know. Just avoid the obvious homework problems, I guess? Don't feed the animals, they'll just keep coming back for more, and then we can't get rid of them.

As a special education teacher, I have learned that there is nothing wrong with showing someone how to work out a problem, then letting them figure out the answer themselves.
I agree that doing the work for them, and "showing your work" doesn't help them, unless they have several problems, and can use that one as an example. Trust your gut, I guess.

Besides, when was the last time you saw a math question here that said, "Just to satisfy my own personal curiosity, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to express A in terms of B if A^2 + 6B = 84."?

:)

There could be a category called homework central and another one called science and math but if they really want to get it they should ask their teacher or parents to help them. Actually isn't there a category called Homework Help.

sometime little ones have issues and right here , they could have their question considered through a large type of human beings. I help human beings asking questions which will be truly replied through someone with the information or maybe deep questions on issues they don't comprehend. i do not help those who only replica and paste questions on issues that like "reviews" and opinion questions.

No it should not be renamed, but your reason is why I never give answers to people who seem like they are cheating.

to get their work done.
