More often than not, the static elictricity is causing the things around you to think you have a ghost, it is the result of electromagnetism generated by metal pipes through your house, the Earth's soil, power lines, even storms that build up in certain places to cause the effects.

I don't think so, the air just gets dry from the heat, when it's cold out. In the winter if I wear sneakers in the grocery store, every time I pick up a metal canned good, I'd get quite a shock! It makes shopping painful, but no ghosts!

I agree - a humidifier would help with the static electricity, but won't help with the ghost problem. I recommend Ghostbusters for that.
