Looking for some kind of wood patio shade to put over an existing metal frame. Used to have a roll of bamboo shade over it. Would like to replace it with some kind of wood like redwood slats that are secured together. Not a pergola.

They provide shade when the sun is at a steep angle and partial shade when the sun is overhead. An arbor is similar to a pergola, except latticework is used between the beams. Decorative in their own right, ivy and other vines are often trained to grow up and around the structures.

It's called a pergola. Try Googling it. You'll probably get plans. They're great! Just make sure the slats face the correct way, or you'll get no shade. The slats need to be perpendicular to the path of the sun
