In contrast to Literature, why should one read a book that he/she may not be interested in?

Literature is way more than an expression of one's thought, aspirations, and emotions. Literature helps us work out answers to some of life's toughest questions. Literature gives us insight into the human condition through story and language. If we do not read the stories of others' lives we will only know our own perspective, and that's a cold, dark, road to travel. Literature helps you see places, people, and events that you can't or won't. That's why it's always a good idea to crack open great books that you may not think you'll like.

You may end up surprising yourself, learning something, and becoming a better person because of a book you chose to read. Pretty amazing thing.

It's Ultimately a way to discover more in literature by looking at what the author says and how he/she says it. We may interpret the author's message. In academic circles, this decoding of the text is often carried out through the use of literary theory, using a mythological, sociological, psychological, historical, or other approach.

Literature expands our view of the world it takes us to a different time and place and gives us a snap of time in which the author has chosen to share with us. Such as with historical novels, that show us what people ate at that time, what they wore, how they spoke, and how people related to one another.
