1. ... and G is 2. H I'm presuming would be 4. I think this one is referring to the number of endpoints in the letter character itself. A closed loop character like D has none, but d would have 2 (in this font).
2. You have me on this one. I couldn't make a connection.
3. X, Y, and Z go with the first group. Like the other members there they have no curved sections in the characters.
