What sort of surface is it? Candle wax scraps off pretty easy and any residue will go with hot water and detergent but you need to be sure you aren't going to take the paint of the wall as well so be careful.

Goo Gone makes a candle wax remover. we bought ours at bed bath and beyond. if you don't have one of those near you, call and check your local hardware store. it was about $4.00. don't use the iron and paper towel or brown paper bag method if the walls are painted with flat paint and the wax is red or dark in color. it could stain the wall permanently. good luck, hope this helps.

paper bag and a warm iron. Place the paper bag over the wax and tap it with a warm iron. Use fresh pieces of the paper bag until it is gone.
