Having a terrible sickness (which is not only physically painful but also emotionally painful for someone and his family) is I think worse than death. There are other things that happen in life that makes the fear of death pale in comparison.

Being tortured for days upon end, being locked up in solitary confinement for years ... there are many thing I can think of that would be a fate worse than death. That's why so many people who are dying painful, slow deaths from cancer wish to be ... involved with euthanasia - death is better than the pain.

Read "Johnny get your Gun" it is the story of a guy who steps on a land mine and ends up a quadrupled paraplegic, who also is deaf, blind and unable to speak. He has no way of communicating with the outside world, he desperately wants to die, but is unable to, since they are feeding him intravenously. so yes, there is something worse than death. Life.

having third degree burns over 90% of your body and living that way a long time. It is a pain that is unimaginable, and people in that situation often beg for death.

torture, watchin someone u love die, missin someone when they're right next to u, knowin u cant have someone b.c of ur race/ethnicity/scene/parents/etc., waitin for death, havin all ur family die and u left alone in the world, bein alone in the world....
death isnt gonna be allt hat bad, b.c then u know the answer to whats after life!
