First, take him outside, don't let him puke on your carpet, especially if it's shag carpet. Ugh that will stain, it's happened in my house too many times, I have 2 dogs. Now, vomiting is one of the mostly common encounters in veterinary medicine. It is nature's way of ridding an irritating substance like spoiled food. But not all vomiting is due to irritation. More serious causes are viral infections or diseases of the liver, pancreas, or kidney. Seek professional help immediately, or as soon as you can. To treat your dog:
-Remove all food and water for at least 12 to 24 hours.
-If vomiting contains blood or is frequent, contact the veterinarian immediately.
-After 12 to 24 hours of NO vomiting, introduce water 1 to 2 ouncs at a time. If no vomiting occurs, offer a bland diet of boiled skinless chicken and rice (50:50 mixture). If this is held down, transition to regular diet over the next 2 days by mixing an increasing quantity of regular dog food with bland diet.
Hope this helped!

It's Sunday and no Vet except Emergency Vets. So I hope you have some Pepto Bismol. Give your dog 2 tablespoons and it works if you also have a dropper. You have to really push it gentle past their tongue. Then be sure to keep Pepto Bismol on hand for the future. And find out if he ate something that made him sick and how it could have been avoided. Good Luck!!

Clean it up. If it's only this one time, it probably just ate something weird and should be fine. However, if it is something that's been happening a lot and you're sure you haven't given it anything different from what it usually eats, there might be some serious complications, so bring it to the vet's office.

I agree with taking him to the vet. There could be numerous things causing his upset tummy. Only your vet would know for sure.
