I have in depth listened to both bob dylan and guns n roses, seen both live, and have gone through periods where i heavily listen to both. From this experience i can safely say bob dylan is much better for a variety of reasons. His career has spanned decades and is filled with wonderful material from the early days of the freewheelin' bob dylan throughout his new material such as love and theft. His music has so much to say and even songs written from decades ago still hold true all these years later

First of all this is a bit of an unfair question. Which version of Guns N' Roses are we talking about? The original lineup, with Steven Adler? I will assume so. Also, there is a disparity between the two selections because- there is hardly a better (in their prime) rock and roll band that brought it back to what it was all about than Gn'R. They were rolling like a freight train... Dylan on the other hand, took folk as his own, switched to rock- which if you look at Hwy 64 Revisited compared to what The Beatles were doing at the time, blew it out of the water. He pushed THE BEATLES into making bigger and badder albums. Dylan went the way of country next, Blood On The Tracks was huge (Tangled Up In Blue one of the best songs ever), went Christian, came back, went back to his roots, almost died, made a Grammy winning album, then another Grammy winner, then another that went to Number 1, making him hold the title for longest time span in between Number 1's. He tours all the time- and still packs them in. GnR- I'd love to go see them, even in their whatever lineup is now- always thought Axl was what rock and roll showmen should be, raunchy. Unfortunately, they can't hold it together that long- or show up four hours late.
Vote: BOB DYLAN

Guns are better than Creedence Clearwater Revival in the sound CCR are much older than GnR, but also had great songs like Bad Moon Rising, Green River and Lookin' Out My Back Door, but my vote still goes for GUNS N ROSES

'Welcome To The Jungle' is Guns N' Roses' most famous song? I don't think so. Ever heard of 'Sweet Child O Mine'?
Anyways, Bob Dylan has received more awards than almost every other rock n roll artist to ever record music.
Dylan:
Grammy Best Contemporary Folk Album "Love and Theft" 2002
Golden Globe Award Best Original Song "Things Have Changed" (from "Wonder Boys") 2000
Las Vegas Film Critics Award Best Original Song "Things Have Changed" (from "Wonder Boys") 2000
Oscar Best Original Song "Things Have Changed" (from "Wonder Boys") 2000
Grammy Album of the Year "Time Out of Mind" 1998
Grammy Best Male Rock Vocal Performance "Cold Irons Bound" 1998
Grammy Best Contemporary Folk Album "Time Out of Mind" 1998
Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize 1997
Kennedy Center Honors Lifetime Achievement Award 1997
Grammy Best Traditional Folk Album "World Gone Wrong" 1994
The Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award 1991
Grammy Best Rock Vocal-Male "Gotta Serve Somebody" 1979
Grammy Album of the Year "A Concert for Bangladesh" 1972
His career accomplishments have been recognized with the Polar Music Prize, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Kennedy Center Honors, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters and Songwriters Hall of Fame. Dylan was listed as one of TIME Magazine's 100 most influential people of the 20th century. In 2004, he was ranked #2 in Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, second to The Beatles. He has also been nominated several times for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Guns N Roses:
1988 - Best New Artist - MTV Video Music Awards ("Welcome to the Jungle")
1989 - Favorite Pop/Rock Single - American Music Awards ("Sweet Child O' Mine")
1989 - Best Heavy Metal Video - MTV Video Music Awards ("Sweet Child O' Mine")
1990 - Favorite Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Artist - American Music Awards
1990 - Favorite Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Album - American Music Awards (Appetite for Destruction)
1992 - Favorite Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Artist - American Music Awards
1992 - Video Vanguard - MTV Video Music Awards
1992 - Best Cinematography - MTV Video Music Awards ("November Rain")
1993 - Best Selling Hard Rock Artist - World Music Awards
Notice the chronological desparity between the two artists. Dylan: 1972 - 2002 (Even though he started his career around 1960)
GNR: 1988 - 1993
Notice GNR's lack of grammies, oscars, golden globes and lifetime achievement awards. (Which they will never get)
Bob Dylan to Guns N Roses is like swatting a mosquito (Guns N Roses) with a water tower (Bob Dylan).

Bob Dylan is Axl's granddaddy! He may be a horrible singer, but he is rock history; Axl is rock's puke at the curb. You comparre a giant of 40+ years of success with a retarded sissy who happened to have 2 successful albums (mainly thanks to Slash & the boys) & a history of metal disorder. Get a grip.

Definitly Guns N' Roses, a much better band, in my opinion. They are two completly different style, so I don't see why you are matching them up.
