I appreciated the ending. I especially liked how the boat was called 'Tomorrow' which was pretty much obviously a metaphor. It was neither depressing, but it wasn't too cheerful either- which just wouldn't have fit well with the the rest of the movie's tone.
I didn't mind so much that the main character died, as I don't think he was ever really intended to be the focus of the story but rather just a pair of eyes from which to see the bigger picture.
t was a hopeful ending since the woman did survive, and like another answerer has said, it is doubtful that she will be the only woman to get pregnant again.
I think it felt like a very 'open' ending, which in this type of movie, was definitely a good thing. The movie was trying to show a time in the world that wasn't just going to be 'wrapped up' and happy in the end because that's not how the world works. It made it seem like there was much left to go on and the story was never really going to end, but as the woman was going to be rescued by the boat of 'tomorrow' with the child of tomorrow. It was a fitting end.
Not sure if all that made sense, it was a little confused.

Yes, I saw it and I really enjoyed it. Although the ending was a bit dark, I think it captured the whole feeling of the movie, being very dark, pessimistic, and following that feeling of where you're not sure if Theo and the girl will succeed or not. Even though a boat shows up you don't know if its the Human Project and what will happen. Or if this new child will make any difference. I'm sure the audience would have felt cheated if everything had rapped up nicely.

It was hopeful but kind of ambiguous. It was never explained what the Human Project was or what they hoped to accomplish. I couldn't help but think if one person could get prgnant then it was probably just the beginning of a resurgence of fertility and there was no real need to spirit her away. I think the director/writer left it open on purpose...
