at 6 weeks i had an u/s that showed the baby to be 6 weeks and 1 day *the same as according to my lmp. then i went in for my 14 week appt. and doc checked my cervix and felt my uterus and said by feeling everything out i was between 14-16 weeks and according to my last period i should have been 13 weeks and 2 days. so she gave me u/s same day and said baby WAS 14 weeks and 2 days..so thats an extra week, this is my 4th pregnancy and im wondering should i go by my lmp which would make me 14 weeks today or go by the u/s and my uterus which would be 15 weeks today? thanks

Doctors say that the 8 week ultrasound is the most accurate....no matter what comes up later in the pregnancy, the 8 week u/s shows the most accurate level of gestation time.
I would say that the 6 week u/s for you would have been the most accurate. I am surprised they even saw you that early, but maybe it being your 4th, they wanted to.
Good luck and congratulations.

8 week u/s are the most accurate because of how the baby has developed. Later u/s show if you have a big or small baby, and thats where they get differant due dates than the earlier u/s. I would stick to the due date of your first u/s and lmp. If you go by the doc, and go 10 days past that, then you will possibly be 17 days past due, and that is not good for the baby. It can cause a whole bunch of problems. My 8 week u/s said i was 8.5 weeks instead of 8 weeks, but I kinda figued I was because I thought I ovulated early. Good luck

I think a week difference is not a big deal, I would go by the doctor though. My doctor said I was due Aug 30, and the ultrasounds always said Sept 7, a week difference. Then again the ultrasound said the baby was 9lbs and a week later the baby came out at 7lbs. The doctor was right on dates, so go by the doctor.

Go with the latest due date possible, that will help prevent unnecessary inductions.

Of course you can use the earliest date if you need to get out of work early, or something ;-)

Also TRUST ME. Take the latest due date, add 10 days for a first pregnancy or 7 for subsequent ones. Tell your family your due date has been changed to that date. It *should* reduce the number of "are you still pregnant" calls.

With my first I was given three different due dates that varied by a month. I'd just think the next time hhmm.... interesting. It doesn't really matter you're eventually going to have a beautiful baby. I always went by the earliest date. It made me think I actually had less time left. Did I mention he ended up 2 weeks late? or was he?

Congratulations

I think one week won't make much of a difference, but I would go by the ultrasound, because with that can measure your baby and tell you how old he is.
