Rabbits are sexually mature at 3 months of age, which is the earliest time that they should be spayed/neutered.

For most rabbits, I would recommend waiting till the rabbit is 8-10 months old before breeding. Some smaller breeds can be bred as early as 6 months old without any problems. The larger breeds I recommend waiting till they are 8-10 months old.

And as one person pointed out, rabbits do not have heat cycles. They are induced ovulators which means that they ovulate when the bred with a buck. Normally they will ovulate and drop their eggs about 8 hours after being bred. So many rabbit breeders will stick the doe back in with the buck around 8 hours later to increase the chances that the doe gets and to increase the chance of a larger litter.

Rabbits are considered "continuously in heat." However there are times when the doe/female will exhibit aggressive tendencies or signs that she wants bred such as raising her rear end in the air when you touch it. Normally the doe is more easy to breed at these times, but they are not considered heat cycles.

Most animals are around 6 months of age when they come into season to mate. However, in order to have healthy offsprings, the animal should not be allowed to have a litter until she comes into heat the second time or even the 3rd time is better since by then she will be full grown.

a female rabbit (doe) should not be bred until they are 6 months old. Also, a rabbit does not have a "heat cycle" they are self induced ovulators, which means that they can be bred at anytime, but they have to be with a buck to ovulate and produce babies. unlike humans or cats and dogs or horses or cattle, they do not have a specific cycle that makes them ovulate...
