six months or when they start smelling like oily hair (Yuck!)
You cannot wash down or down fill pillows, they must be dry cleaned.
When laundering, use the gentlest cycle and when in the dryer, add some tennis balls or a clean tennis shoe to help "fluff" them back up. I also like to put them outside for a couple of hours after they are dry to get that clean, fresh smell. I store mine in a zippered plastic bag with lavender sachet.

I laundry all my pillows in the washing machine in hot water and bleach, it also fluffs them up real nice, add fabric softener . You can hang them up to dry, but that makes them stiff, I put mine in the dryer just enough to get tham almost dry, then I turn the machine to air dry. Keep your pillows as long as you are comfortable with them.

Oprah did a whole thing on it. She said you should get rid of it every six months or so I think. I wash mine in a front loading washer and use a detergent and ammonia mixture.
