What is a good begginer guitar? I am looking for under 300$. I play piano and violin. I would like to play classic rock and blues music. I have been looking around and found a 250 Epiphone Les Paul II.

There are any number of more affordable guitars you can buy; new and used. The Epiphone is fine, but it all depends on what you want to spend.

What you want is the best possible combination of good neck action (which you'll understand, being a violin player) and a quality pickup(s) on the guitar.

Take your time, try out several guitars. Plug them in and listen to them. Do you already have an amp? If you do and it's not too big to lug around, bring it to the store with you and try the guitars out through that.

250 Epiphone Les Paul II is a good guitar, maybe not for a begginer though. I'd check out some local music shops and get one of the cheap ones that they have there and learn to play on that before spending lots of money on an expensive guitar.

Crappyphone is a Gibson made out of scraps of leftover wood, plain junk. You cannot find quality instruments under $300 except for ocassional sales of Washburn models, they tend to get discounted insanely low (from 800 down to 200) at musiciansfriend.com and music123.com. Then look for WI64, those are great guitars, very easy to play. I have the distressed model & love it as much as any $800+ guitar I have.

a standard ibannez will do. they are about 200 bucks and are the BEST to start with. very thin neck and more frets, so if you started getting serious, you could bust out a nice solo without busting out more bucks for a better guitar. i play exacly what you do and it works great! ibanezes are very cheap, and there quality does NOT lack. good luck with finding the perfect one

Check out eBay, musiciansfriend.com and americanmusical.com, all have beginner packages with guitar, amp, and accessories at a reasonable price.
You can't go wrong with Gibson (Epiphone) or Fender. I have both and love them.

i'm a fender girl, and i play a maxican-made "fat strat," but i think they make a squire version, although it sounds to me like you wouldn't even really want a fender to begin with...

just thought i'd put it out there, though...

oh, yeah, and go to reviews.harmony-central.com they have good user reviews.
